New Year’s Gala Concert
King’s Hall, Ilkley
Saturday 9 January 2027 at 7.30pm
Celebrate the New Year in style with traditional Viennese music by the Strauss family
and others. The orchestra will be joined by the extremely talented young dancers from
The Academy of Northern Ballet, to perform excerpts from Tchaikovsky’s dramatic
ballet Sleeping Beauty and Rimsky Korsakov’s Dance of the Tumblers, plus a few
surprises! Soprano, Katie Bird, from Opera North, will sing popular arias including One Fine Day from Puccini’s opera Madama Butterfly
*New for 2027* Matinee Performance at 4.00pm
This special matinee will be a short concert of around 40 minutes, tailored for a
younger audience and the ‘young at heart’! This performance will comprise ballet scenes and orchestral works from the main Gala concert.

A Night at the Opera and Ballet

Ilkley Philharmonic Orchestra is delighted to perform a selection of the very best
music from the world of opera and ballet.
We are honoured to have soprano Katie Bird and tenor Cameron Mitchell, from Opera
North, as our soloists. Katie played the leading role of Maria in Opera North’s
outstanding production of The Sound of Music last summer, to great critical acclaim.
The concert will include works by Verdi, Puccini, Mozart, Saint-Saens, Leoncavallo
and Tchaikovsky.
